Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)

Epidermal  Growth Factor was first discovered by Stanley Cohen, an American  Biochemist at Vanderbilt University. He worked together with Rita Levi-Montalcini and both of them received the Nobel Prize for their work in 1986. EGF’s are small polypeptides of 53 amino acids that behave as cell-signaling protein molecules to the skin matrix (our skin’s first line of defense  against aging) to stimulate epithelial cell growth and reproduction, collagen synthesis, and blood-vessel formation. Epidermal Growth Factor increases cell renewal and assists the skin in wound healing and  stimulates the skin's ability to repair itself from the damaging rays of  the sun. It provides exceptional benefits in skin regeneration, offering the ability to plump and firm skin to reduce existing wrinkles.

Kinetin

Kinetin, also known as N6-furfuryladenine, is a class of plant hormone that is important in cell division. It belongs to the group of compounds known as cytokinins, which are a class of growth regulators in plants. In plants, kinetin and the other cytokinins promote cell division and are active in the processes of cellular growth and differentiation.

Kinetin has been found to have potent  antioxidant properties which can help in managing free radical damage. It has also been shown to help repair DNA.
Researchers have found that kinetin displays strong anti aging effects on plants, fruit flies  and cultured human skin cells. The productive life span of human skin cells was drastically increased during laboratory experiments.

It appears that kinetin may also be useful in certain specific skin conditions, especially those associated with inflammation. Dr Wu and colleagues from the University of California, Irvine studied the effects of topical 0.1% kinetin twice-daily on the signs and symptoms of rosacea. The results, published in the journal of Clinical Experimental Dermatology in 2007, indicated both effectiveness and safety of kinetin as a rosacea treatment.
